The center showcases a range of leading automated storage and fulfillment solutions — including a demo system of Hai Robotics’ automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) driven by award-winning Autonomous Case-handling Robots (ACRs).

The Tech Center’s inception began several years ago when McMurray Stern recognized the need to accelerate its presence in the automated storage and retrieval sector. With a successful history, particularly in its pivotal partnership with Spacesaver, the company identified uncharted opportunities beyond traditional mobile shelving and racking solutions. To bridge this gap, a physical representation of groundbreaking technology was deemed essential to help clients fully comprehend these innovative solutions.
To bring this vision to life, McMurray Stern collaborated with a consortium of pioneering technology partners. This concerted effort, supported by the expertise of McMurray Stern’s engineering team, culminated in the realization of the Tech Center. The project spanned several months with multiple iterations, resulting in an unparalleled facility that exemplifies cutting-edge technology in the Western United States.
A strategic partnership with Hai Robotics brought together McMurray Stern’s extensive integrated storage technology experience with the advantages of Hai Robotics’ flexible, ACR-driven automated storage and retrieval systems. By joining forces in the Tech Center, they offer customers the opportunity to interact with top-tier ASRS technology in 1 location.
Hai Robotics’ intelligent ACRs drive highly flexible ASRS constructed of standard racking, and move containers of varying sizes and material, as well as uncontained goods. Hai Robotics’ solutions maximize vertical storage up to 10 meters (32+ feet) high and provides modern storage density to reduce customer’s storage footprints up to 75%.
Inspiring Hands-On Experiences
The driving force behind the Tech Center’s creation was to offer customers an immersive, hands-on experience, allowing them to gain a profound understanding of technology in the context of warehouse automation. It serves as a dynamic space where visitors can witness solutions firsthand and envision their application within their own operations.
Amongst other automated solutions, Hai Robotics’ demo system features an interactive workstation allowing visitors to experience the system firsthand.
A Compact Powerhouse of Innovation
Spanning 30,000 square feet, the Tech Center combines conference room, warehouse, and technology showcase spaces. The deliberate inclusion of all technologies sold by McMurray Stern in its own operations underlines the company’s commitment to actively engage with the products it offers. Beyond understanding these products, this approach fosters continuous improvements in the design of electro-mechanical systems and software. The Tech Center has already catalyzed the pursuit of numerous patents for innovative applications developed within its walls.
Weaving its way through 4 slim aisles between storage racks is Hai Robotics’ cutting-edge A42 ACR with 9-tote carry capacity and double-deep tote reach combined with patented Spacesaver ActivRAC mobile shelves for extra storage density. The robot picks and replaces totes of assorted styles and sizes, displaying its flexibility for a range of storage scenarios.
As Hai’s automated equipment makes its way to and from a conveyor belt picking and delivering totes, visitors can test the system’s easy-to-use software at an ergonomic workstation.
