“We Build, We Fight, We Educate,” supporting the U.S. Navy Seabees motto
McMurray Stern sponsors Navy Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association
Each year McMurray Stern looks forward to the opportunity to support the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association (SMSA) by sponsoring their annual golf invitational in Virginia Beach.
Living up to their motto – “We Build, We Fight,” the U.S. Navy Seabees have served our nation proudly for 76 years. More than a decade of military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken a toll on members of this elite team.It is for this reason that the Virginia Beach Seabee Scholarship Golf Invitational funds scholarships to help support those Seabees by providing scholarships to their children and grandchildren.
Seabee scholars graduate at more than double the national four-year graduation rate. Over 50% of their scholars’ study Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).SMSA has awarded over 2,800 scholarships since 1972 valuing more than $5 million.
